Before scheduling an HVAC service call make sure you check the following:

1. Check the breakers. Make sure the breaker(s) to your equipment (indoor and outdoor) aren't tripped. If you have an outdoor unit, check the outdoor disconnect to make sure the plug hasn't been removed.

2. Check for sufficient air flow. Make sure air filters are clean and that supply and return diffusers and grills are open and unobstructed.

3. Check the setting of your thermostat. If you want cooling, make sure the temperature control selector is set below room temperature and that the system switch is on the COOL position and the fan switch is in the AUTO position. If you want heat, make sure the temperature control selector is set above room temperature and that the system switch is on the HEAT position and the fan switch is in the AUTO position. * The fan switch should be set at ON for continuous blower operation or AUTO if you want the blower to function only while the unit is operating.

4. If your outdoor unit looks like a block of ice, turn your unit off so that additional ice doesn't build up. We can't service your unit while it is frozen, we must thaw it out.

     a. Is breaker tripped?
     b. Check low water cut-off switch at pressure tank, reset if
necessary (we can explain the procedure)
     c. Is there water in well? Has this ever happened before
         during a drought?

4. Water Softener:
     a. Is there electric to the receptacle?
     b. Is the timer setting accurate?
     c. Is there salt in the tank?

5. Leaks: Shut off the valve at fixture or at main valve

Why should you have a Maintenance & Service Agreement?

Due to the seasonal extremes in weather we often experience in this region (think 5 degrees with a wind chill of -30 or 102 degrees with 95% humidity), you simply canít afford to be without a dependable heating and cooling system!

Doesn't it make sense to protect your heating and cooling systems by keeping them properly maintained so that they will be available when you need them most? How reliable do you think your car would be if you never changed your engine oil? Regular maintenance on any machine is necessary for long life and continuous, uninterrupted opera-tion.

With a Maintenance & Service Agreement from Groff's Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing you are protected against costly breakdowns and high utility bills due to dirty and malfunctioning equipment. You can rest easy knowing you have done all you can to insure comfort and safety for yourself and your family.

4 Reasons for a Maintenance & Service Agreement

1. Warranty: Most manufactures require routine maintenance on equipment to validate your warranty

2. Reduced Fuel Bills: The reality is that, fuel bills are a necessary part of any budget. But why pay more than you have to? Properly maintained equipment does run more efficiently. A university study with a local utility company showed that properly maintained air conditioning systems saved an average of 32.00/month.

3. Priority Emergency Service: You've heard the horror stories. Temperature and humidity in the high nineties...the air conditioner breaks...the serviceman has a two day backlog. With a Service/Maintenance Agreement from Groff's, you have priority emergency service. This guarantees that you'll be serviced promptly, removing the worry of hot summer days or cold winter nights.

4. Prolonged Equipment Life: With proper maintenance your heating and air conditioning system will last far longer than a neglected system.
